IEEE 1394 High Speed Serial Bus CABLEIEEE 1394 is one kind of syncretic standard with high-speed full parallel digitals. They are used in digital cameras, cinematograph, stereo system, digital video and audio dishes, digital TVs, high frequency video and audio equipments, and so on.
The minimum transmission speed of IEEE 1394a is 100, 200 and 400 Mbps. While the transmission speed of 1394b is 800 Mb pre second. In the future, it will reach 1.6 Gb per second, or even more.
For IEEE 1394a Cable, it has two kinds of interfaces. One is 6 pin, in which, two cores wires are for power supply. Another is 4 pin, it has no power supply, mainly used in home audiovisual AV equipments. And IEEE 1394b's interface is 9 pin now.
IEEE 1394 can be connected by 63 settings equipments from outside at most. And it needs Splitter to form tree-type network to connect the outside equipments with master computers.
In 1995, IEEE 1394 was formally accepted as international standards by Electric and Electron Engineering Institute.
